This transition promised to unlock a myriad of personalization avenues, enhancing user engagement. The wireframes were great in fostering a collective understanding and alignment on the project vision.
A recurring feedback echoed a desire for enriched connectivity and an eagerness for expanded functionalities. A routine engagement with users was established, conducting weekly interviews via Zoom and Discord, coupled with formal surveys. The discourse primarily revolved around their current usage patterns and their perceptions of the app.
DEFINING THE PROBLEM
The initial design of our profile interface was simplistic, featuring a default avatar alongside several fields awaiting user input.
With a fresh coat of design paint, the interface began to bloom. We aimed to entice users to select appealing backgrounds and stickers, creating a space they'd love to share with friends.
The testing involved tasks like updating avatar, adding songs and animated stickers, sharing profiles, and changing themes to gauge usability. We faced clarity issues in our instructions for editing backgrounds and themes, causing user confusion. A challenge arose with the sticker resizing feature, which wasn't responsive enough, leading to users selecting wrong stickers.
FEEDBACK & ITERATION
While these features catered to basic user interaction, it was imperative to delve deeper into user perceptions. We embarked on a user feedback journey, inquiring about their experiences with the profile page, its utility, and its appeal to them.
USABILITY TESTING
Insights from competitor and trend analysis unveiled a burgeoning trend towards customization and personalization in social interfaces.
1Wallet emerges with an aspiration to pioneer as the first social wallet. I had the privilege of collaborating with 1Wallet to hone their product and enhance the user experience.
HEURISTIC RESEARCH
Moderate to high scores and low failure rates from typical users were encouraging indicators of design effectiveness for most tasks. Due to errors in sticker additions, a favored customization feature, we invested more time refining the editing and resizing functionality for better user experience.

MAGIC
We observed a tapering user engagement, with a stark 80% of users not engaging to the extent of personalizing their profiles with a picture or avatar.
Envisioning the potential of a richly-featured profile page, I orchestrated a straightforward workflow. This guided users through thematic alterations, aesthetic personalization, and sharing their unique profile with others, enriching their interactive experience.
The mission was clear: rejuvenate the profile interface to foster user engagement and cultivate an emotional resonance, fostering a sticky user experience.
THE GOAL
Users rated their experience through a simple survey, provided time metrics for tasks, and gave qualitative feedback for improvement, shaping our final design.
To validate the coherence of the design, I transitioned the wireframes into a prototype, initiating usability testing sessions with our users to garner insightful feedback.
DESIGN PROTOTYPE
My initial endeavor was to delve into the user segments we were catering to, ranging from casual messaging aficionados to web3 enthusiasts.

Eventually, our app blossomed with myriad customization and personalization avenues. We even nestled a digital store in the design, ready for a future unveiling.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Following the initial research phase, we aimed to captivate creative professionals accustomed to a high degree of customization offered by other platforms. We curated a list of features integral to a robust MVP, empowering users with full autonomy over their profile customization.
Although minimal in branding, the interface resonated with our classic dark mode aesthetic. A subtle social feature was integrated where supplied social media handles morphed into clickable buttons beneath the user's username, paired with a timestamp indicating their last online presence.
DEFINING THE PROBLEM
EMPATHIZING
A closer look at other social messaging platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Apple's UI revealed a spectrum of customization options, enabling users to infuse a personal touch into their app experience. Our application analytics painted a concerning picture; a mere 20% of users ventured beyond the default avatar to personalize their profile photo. This statistic was a stark indicator of our interface's deficiency in eliciting the sense of engagement and delight, particularly among the Gen Z demographic, who have a penchant for personalization.
Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop
Reaching back to our power users, we invited their insights on the new personalization features. Their feedback was a goldmine of helpful insights, which was truly amazing.
