FEEDBACK & ITERATION

The final UX design significantly eased the user interaction with the protocol, marking a triumph in our design journey.

With a transaction volume exceeding $1.5 billion, it was evident that the app had a substantial user base. However, the user experience was evidently lacking, requiring an overhaul to meet user expectations.

The refinements made to the application were warmly received by users, who shared good feedback on its improved user-centric interface and inviting design aesthetics.

Our ambition was to infuse a contemporary, sleek essence into the app.

BORN IN SF 🌎 AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE

Our initial interface, although rich in options, suffered from an overload of non-interactive elements, hindering user navigation.

USABILITY TESTING

Given the early stages of the web3 industry, we embarked on crafting a novel solution, leveraging computer logic to demystify the user interface. A simplistic workflow, adorned with intuitive tooltips and a smart UI, escorted users seamlessly through the token transfer process.

THE GOAL

Users were consistently bewildered at various stages of the transfer interface, leading to claims of misplaced or lost funds.

PLANNING THE SOLUTION

Post-research, our aim shifted towards imbuing functional features, aspiring to surpass the level of user-centricity observed in other protocol tools, helping our core audience.

IDEATING POSSIBILITIES

The testing regimen was segmented into a series of tasks including token selection, favorite address configuration, wallet connection, network switching, and ultimately, token bridging. The feedback garnered from these sessions was invaluable in tailoring a design that resonated well with the user expectations and app objectives.

A striking reduction of up to 80% in contacts and queries concerning transactions or errors was observed, which is a testament to the enhanced usability of our design. The revamp received an enthusiastic reception from users, who voiced their appreciation for the new design and its impact on their user experience. A notable challenge encountered was the divergence in feedback from various stakeholders. The array of opinions on the app's aesthetics and functionalities sometimes posed a reconciliation hurdle, yet it provided a rich ground for exploring a balanced, user-centric solution that met diverse expectations.

The competitive analysis of similar blockchain applications opened our eyes to the necessity of software-aided simplification in user choices. This realization propelled us to elevate our design standards to remain competitive.

DEFINING THE PROBLEM

A quick glance at our competitors revealed a proficient use of computer logic to streamline user interfaces, something we were lagging in.

RESULTS

Despite a strong brand design, the lack of contrast on the homepage confused users between informational and interactive sections. A meticulous pruning of non-essential options was imperative to enhance user experience.

Beginning with a plethora of ideas, we narrowed down to a unified concept: a central modal box encapsulating essential user tools, devoid of any superfluity. This compact design served as the blueprint for the entire app, guiding subsequent design and development decisions.

Our user interviews showed the crux of the issue - an interface too busy and convoluted for straightforward navigation. A glaring concern was the accessibility of non-essential interactive options, further complicating the transaction process.

To validate the coherence of the design, I embarked on usability testing sessions using the developed wireframes with our user base.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

Users rated their experience with a simple system usability survey, they were timed for each task, and they gave me qualitative feedback on how it could be improved.

This entailed a considerable period of exploration across varying design elements and principles. We ventured into alternative user flow strategies, and experimented with a spectrum of animations and transitions to achieve a vibrant user experience.

HEURISTIC RESEARCH

Horizon bridge is new blockchain technology with a retail-facing application that allows for near instant transfer of cryptographic assets from one chain to another.

While they appreciated the advancements, they also expressed a desire for enhanced loading screen interactions and a progressive update on the progress bar, suggestions that were integrated into the subsequent iteration.

The recurring narrative was users grappling with the interface, as evidenced by the incessant help-desk tickets.

A meticulous redesign of the interface to enhance user-friendliness, aiming to shield users from the potential pitfalls.
